Hand over the Wool!

Mmmmmm. Yummy fleece....

I met a shepherd in September who is very committed to breeding small fine fleeced Shetlands. We visited his farm and I very nearly bought 3 ram lambs on the spot. Then reason prevailed that I wouldn't be able to convince the county/city government that they were actually canines. So I bought fleece instead. *GRIN* So far I have washed 2 fleeces and have spun about a third of that fiber. Oh my is this stuff fine and soft. It's single coated and there's no guard hair at all and really a delight to spin. I've been carding it on the drum carder and spinning from that roving. The yarn you see here is 3 ply and worsted weight, and super lofty and elastic. The plan is to knit a matching hat and scarf set for the shepherd, Garrett Ramsay. Google Ramsay Farms, he has lots of great info on his sites about his sheep and other critters.

More Knitting

Heels are turned! The finish line is in sight! The purplish item is the button up neck warmer from SpinOff using my handdyed/handspun merino yarn. This pattern really knits up fast.

Still Knitting

I know. Bad blogger. Forgive me. August was busy. September was busy. October was busy and I was called for jury duty 3 times, and my church went through a split so that really took up a lot of time with reorganzing. November has been busy with deer hunting. I'll show my progress over the next few posts. This picture shows a pair of socks i've been working on for months usually at the bank or while waiting. I did knit a bit of them while waiting in the jury room the one time I did have to report for duty. I was only there for an hour and a half but I was knitting. I might have been there longer but the idiot defendant showed up drunk for his own trial. Who does that?! The yarn is Lion Brand and I am knitting plain socks but they are a Christmas gift so I really want to finish them soon. I have a lot of projects to cover and hope to get caught up in the next few days. For now, good night!
